Top Cards on Twitter 2023: 21-25

The last two days we’ve done a speed run through about 200 Twitter accounts.  For the last 25, our approach is to take a little more of a look and give these folks the attention they deserve.  You’ll see their Twitter bio, a pinned or recent Tweet, and then data both on their accounts and on the voting.  So let’s get the first five accounts under the microscope!

Alexa had big shoes to fill when Erica Weston headed back West but she’s done it with ease and grace, even when it hasn’t been easy.  It’s not surprising that her role at Bally Sports seems to continue to increase and even if things go completely south in this whole Diamond Sports thing, it seems likely whatever comes next will be aggressive in making sure Alexa is part of it.

The AA Cardinals, much like the prospects that have worn their uniforms, have made gradual upward steps and now have cracked the big time.  Their playfulness and innovation is a great thing to see on your timeline and they do a lot of giveaways as well.  Lots of good highlights during the season here as well!

The official account for the Birds on the Black site does a great job of highlighting items on the site or of the contributors to it.  There’s been less written over at BOTB as of late, but that’s pretty true of a lot of places on the web.  If you are following this account, though, you are going to know what’s going on by the great writers/podcasters/people that make up BOTB.

Number 22: vivaelbirdos

Good, solid, consistent VEB.  You can tell from the history that the account for the gold standard in Cardinal blogging is usually right in this general area.  It’s a great way to keep track of all the various posts and discussions that are going on with some pretty smart Cardinal fans.  One of the pillars of the Cardinal online presence.

Number 21: JohnDenton555
MLB.com beat writer covering the St. Louis Cardinals. Formerly: @OrlandoMagic, @UCFAthletics, @FLORIDATODAY & @JSunNews

Ranking history: 27 (2022)

It was an interesting choice of MLB to put a former hockey writer on the beat of one of the crown jewels of the sport, but there’s no doubt that Denton gets people talking.  You’ll find plenty of links to his articles as well as news from around the league (often the latter is from retweets).  He’ll drop some statistical knowledge at times as well and there’s no doubt his relationship with Kyle Reis shows how he’s been accepted by the community.

We’re 20% done with the Top 25!  Come back this afternoon for the next five accounts!
