Top Cards on Twitter: 6-10

We’re getting close to the end of our countdown, as (save our first Twitterer) we are into single digits.  There’s not many here that you won’t be familiar with, but you probably will want to remedy that if you are.

Everyone in St. Louis and that has followed St. Louis sports for any length of time knows Bernie Miklasz.  Long-time Post-Dispatch columnist, he’s weighed in on just about every Cardinals (and Rams and Blues and Missouri) topic imaginable.  Now he’s moved over to 101 ESPN, but he’s still writing and commenting quite often.  You’ll get a lot of links to his work in his feed, along with retweets, but he’s always pretty good about engaging with his audience as well.

Number 9: StlWinn
Sports-junkie who’s also nerd-curious. A unique blend of positivity and sarcasm. I reside in a network of tunnels beneath Busch Stadium.

It probably speaks to the quality of a Twitter feed when you can make the top 10 with less than 1000 followers.  I’ve not been following Daniel (always good to have more Dan/Daniels in the Cardinal mix, right?) all that long, but it’s been enjoyable.  Of course, there’s plenty of nerd stuff in the timeline, which might surprise you to learn is right up my alley.  He’ll also hit the other St. Louis sports, but seems to be fairly level-headed when it comes to the Cardinals.  That being said, level-headedness really is in the eye of the beholder.

The official account’s placement on this survey is interesting.  The question was which accounts are the most informative or are must-follows for Cardinal fans.  You’d think the official account, while not necessarily being the one everyone is going to clamor for, would be in the mix and, indeed, it’s in the top 10. That said, my guess is that if there weren’t the issues that we’ve discussed this year, the account might have made the top five.  Things seemed to be somewhat better during the second half of the season, but I don’t believe the fundamental issues have been corrected internally.  They may never change–I’m not sure that folks really see it as a problem, at least some of them.  However, no matter your thoughts about the feed, it’s still a good follow for lineups, news, and other things of that nature.

We make a significant point jump between eight and seven and get to the better half of the Best Dans in Baseball, Mr. Buffa.  If nothing else with Dan, you are going to get content.  Look at that average Tweets a month line.  Very few in our top 25 have been even close to half that amount.  Then again, given the way Dan effortlessly puts up posts around the Internet, this shouldn’t be a surprise to us.  It’s a variety of topics on his feed, with movies, baseball, working out, St. Louis sports, coffee, and pretty much anything that comes into that bald head.  If you want to know something about almost anything, follow Dan.

One of the few feeds that is basically purely Cardinals, this is the account of the well-respected blog.  During the season, you’ll find in-game Tweeting here and there’s always links to their quality work Tweeted out as well.  There’s a number of folks that wind up running this, so you can occasionally get a different flavor or approach, but for the most part you are going to get solid, sober analysis and discussion.  Also, they are pro-Jim Edmonds for the Hall of Fame, so they have that going for them.

Almost done!  When we return, we’ll look at the top five as chosen by the Twitterers that voted.  If you’ve missed the others in the series, the links are below!
