Sowing Seeds: Filling in the Pieces

Carlos Martinez gets one more turn in the rotation before the end of PCL first half (Ed. update) Michael Blazek has been sent down to Memphis with C-Mart getting recalled, and there may be more moves to follow. The starter for tonight’s Redbirds game is TBD, and it for sure won’t be Chris Carpenter! The Cardinals are again flush with a number of starters who are ready to step up, and the trade deadline could be quieter if Carp proves to be the answer.

Even the St. Louis streak running to five games could not dent the news that Carpenter announced his retirem, not so fast as we are all finding out! The long-time Cardinal ace starts the official road back on Monday, and all eyes will be on Springfield, including your Preacher. Palm Beach had the lone win on the evening, and Anthony Garcia has continued his torrid pace from June. He very well could have garnered white smoke honors for his 3-RBI night, and Hector Hernandez’s debut was a success.

Stay tuned as the puzzle gets put together on the fly and SS may need an afternoon edition!
