Carpenter Set for Springfield

I except a much different Carp on Monday

I expect a much different Carp on Monday

A day after being informed that Mitchell Boggs was no longer in the St. Louis plans, my Dad shared much better news tonight. The Cardinals have announced that Chris Carpenter will begin the trek back to the majors by joining the Springfield club on Monday.

I’m certain the Post-Dispatch will be covering the event as well, but the CC was not going to miss out when the future is rarely a sure thing with #29. I jumped at the chance to see Carpenter without caring who the opponent was, even though Boggs being a member of the Tulsa Drillers would have made things interesting.

Not only did we get tickets, but my Dad and I will be behind the SCards dugout with a perfect view of the best competitor I have had the privilege of watching. I encourage everyone within shouting distance to make the trip, and there are spots open in my car if needed!

There will be an exclusive report after the game as well as updates of his outing via Twitter. Since I will be missing most of the fun of All-Star Monday, all Home Run Derby stats are welcomed. Is it just me or does this feel like XMas in July?
