A Quick Graph – Pete Kozma

Happy 4th of July!  I hope everyone is enjoying it with friends and family.

In lieu of an actual post today I’m going to simply present a graph without much comment courtesy of BrooksBaseball.net

The out of zone swing percentage is a little worrisome as it also coincides with a month in which the Koz wOBA’d .220 (which for those not following at home is REALLY bad).

Interesting. They’ve been playing and practicing almost daily since the middle of February. Hopefully a break and some rest, not to mention getting to think about something else for a while!, will pick him up.

In his first year as an opening day starter on a MLB team, Pete is doing his job successfully, learning every day, and focusing on becoming a better player defensively and offensively. Many young infielders, and catchers – Molina included, improve their hitting after a few years of focusing on defensive skills. The Cards pitchers depend on and trust Pete.

Derrick Goold wrote about his value, along with that of Yadi and Matt C. in the PD. Good read.
