Make it Three

St. Louis has a history of turning catchers into everything from 1B to closers, and they took a third straight listed backstop in the 19th round. Ryan McCarvel may be the best athlete of the group, and the Cardinals will not get him for cheap.

Back-to-Back Catchers

Chris Chinea and Josh Rolette give St. Louis three total catchers in the 2015 Draft. Chinea is still playing for LSU (CWS Alert) while Rolette is a Oklahoma HS pick. Welcome to Cardinal Nation!

Getting Selective

Cardinals are in the stage of the Draft where they are very specific in looking at needs. They took a listed SS for the first time in Ryan Merrill out of Iowa Western CC (15th) and the first reliever in Max Almonte from Villanova (16th).
