Let the Games Begin (Sorry Memphis)

Most would agree that Opening Day for MLB should be a national holiday and while that’s not up for debate here, it’s this author’s view that the true start of the baseball season happens to be today!

That’s right, all five St. Louis clubs (weather permitting) will be in action which means the Preacher is returning to the pulpit. The last couple of seasons have been difficult overall to say the least, but the Cardinals have publicly stated a new path forward.

Memphis technically started off the festivities last week and with one rainout already they get to play a pair to really kick things off! Springfield is all about JJ and how the number one ranked prospect handles the leap over Peoria.

Speaking of the Chiefs, since that is my closest affiliate, prepare yourself now to learn all about the next wave of future household names. Rounding out the action, Palm Beach adjusted the fences and will see how the offense looks before a very important draft.

St. Louis struck gold last year with Wetherholt, a consensus top 25 prospect and finds another high pick about to join the organization. Before that can happen, however, there are plenty of answers to be had mainly on the pitching side.

Memphis boasts a loaded rotation and plenty of hurlers with the potential to be called upon very soon if today’s game in Boston is any indication. Springfield brings a nice collection of arms to the table as well as more offensive firepower.

The SCards welcome the Twins’ farm team to Hammons Field and with them a starter who has yet to give up a home run as a professional. Tonight seems like as good a time as any to get that out of the way! Taking the mound for Springfield will be Tekoah Roby who turned in an impressive and healthy showing in March.

Peoria hosts the Royals farm club from Quad Cities with plenty of interesting match-ups. Many players from last year’s Championship club in Palm Beach get a well deserved promotion and honestly looking forward to making the drive down to finally check out Dozer Park!

Palm Beach boasts another exciting roster with a number of last year’s draft picks in addition to teenager Leonel Sequera, the Preacher’s pick to pull a Quinn Mathews and move fast this campaign. No matter where you live or watch, it is a great day to be a fan of the best sport and here’s to an amazing season in the cheap seats!
