Cardinals Recall Drew Robinson from Memphis

PITCHER GIOVANNY GALLEGOS OPTIONED TO MEMPHIS

MILWAUKEE, WI, April 15, 2019 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight’s series opener in Milwaukee that they have recalled infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson from Memphis (AAA) and optioned right-handed pitcher Giovanny Gallegos to the triple-A Redbirds.

Robinson was on the Cardinals Opening Day roster and appeared in three games (0-for-3) before being optioned to Memphis on April 4.   The left-handed hitting Robinson appeared in nine games for Memphis, batting .229 (8-for-35) with 2 RBI.  He wears uniform No. 33.

Gallegos, who posted his first Major League win last week, worked 1/3 of an inning in relief yesterday in Monterrey, Mexico, as he became the first Mexican-born Cardinals player to take part in a regular season game played in his homeland.

The Cardinal also returned infielder/outfielder Yairo Muñoz, the team’s 26th man in the Mexico Series, to Memphis following yesterday’s game.
