Cardinals To Host “An Evening With 2006 Greats” At Busch Stadium

Exclusive Event Featuring 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein, Jim Edmonds and Randy Flores Scheduled For August 22nd

St. LOUIS, Mo., August 3, 2016 – The St. Louis Cardinals are hosting a unique event for fans to get up close with three players from the club’s 2006 World Series Championship team, David Eckstein, Jim Edmonds and Randy Flores.  “An Evening with 2006 Greats” will take place on Monday, August 22, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Busch Stadium.

As part of the event, the players will tell stories and share insight into the magical 2006 season that culminated in the organization’s 10th World Series title during a 90-minute Q&A session with broadcaster Dan McLaughlin.

In addition to the program, all guests that purchase a ticket will receive a baseball autographed by Eckstein, Edmonds and Flores, enjoy a cocktail party on the warning track, a photo opportunity with the 2006 World Series trophy and dinner and drinks in the Redbird Club.

Eckstein, the Redbirds’ two-time All-Star shortstop and primary lead-off hitter during his three seasons with the club (2005-2007), was named World Series MVP in 2006 after compiling a .364/.391/.500 line that included a team-leading eight hits and four RBI.  David drove in the game-winning run in Game 4 and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning of the series clinching Game 5 at Busch Stadium.

Edmonds, a three-time All-Star and six-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner during his eight seasons patrolling centerfield with the Cardinals (2000-2007), had 19 home runs and 70 RBI while playing only 110 games in 2006 due to injury.  He recovered in time to appear in all 16 postseason games that year and hit .250 with two homeruns and 10 RBI.  Jim was inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class in 2014.

Flores, currently in his first year as the Cardinals’ Scouting Director, appeared in 236 games out of the bullpen as a left-handed reliever during his five seasons in St. Louis (2004-2008).  He enjoyed a strong showing in the 2006 postseason with two holds and a win while allowing no runs in his seven appearances (5.2 IP).  Randy earned the win in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS versus the New York Mets by retiring three straight batters (Carlos Delgado, David Wright and Shawn Green) after entering the eighth inning with one on and no outs.  The win advanced the Cardinals to their 17th World Series appearance.

Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event are $250 and can be purchased now at cardinals.com/greats.
