Fans Encouraged To Use Video to Campaign for Cardinals on Social Media

Fans Asked To Tweet or Instagram Videos In Support of Cardinals Players For Chance to Win Tickets to the 2015 All-Star Game

ST. LOUIS, MO (June 15, 2015) – The St. Louis Cardinals are encouraging fans to actively campaign to send their favorite Cardinals to the 2015 All-Star Game by sharing fan videos via social media.  The fan who creates the best campaign video as part of the Cardinals’ “Video the Vote” promotion will win two tickets to this year’s mid-summer classic in Cincinnati.

“While the All-Star Game is a celebration of the best players in the game, All-Star campaigning provides fans an opportunity to demonstrate their support of our players, “ said Ron Watermon, Vice-President of Communications for the St. Louis Cardinals. “We hope our fans channel their passion and creativity to champion All-Star balloting, celebrate our great players and most importantly have some fun along the way.”

The Cardinals have launched the “Video the Vote” contest to encourage fans to take to Twitter or Instagram to post short campaign videos in support of their favorite players using the hashtag #VoteSTL.   Fans that participate in the “Video the Vote” contest may have their creative work shared with the Cardinals (@cardinals) more than 650,000 twitter followers, while the best overall video entry on Twitter or Instagram will win two tickets to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game in Cincinnati.  Fans can learn more about the campaign and vote up to 35 times at cardinals.com/vote. Voting, which is on-line only, ends July 2, 2015, at 10:59 p.m. CT.

Fans can also spread the word on social media using the hashtag #VoteSTL, as well as #VoteWong for Kolten Wong, #VoteJay for Jon Jay, #VoteCarpenter for Matt Carpenter, #VoteHeyward for Jason Heyward, #VoteMolina for Yadier Molina, #VoteJPeralta for Jhonny Peralta, #VoteAdams for Matt Adams, and #VoteHolliday for Matt Holliday.  Fans may also use the hashtag #ASGWorthy to campaign for other worthy players.

Video the Vote” is one in a series of several #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has planned this season to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals.  Through the #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiative, the team hopes to tap into the increasing trend of user-generated video content made possible by advances in mobile technology and social media.  Fans can learn more about #CardsFanFlix at cardinals.com/fanflix.
