CATCHER CODY STANLEY ADDED TO TEAM’S 40-MAN M.L. ROSTER
ST. LOUIS, Mo., November 19, 2014 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced several roster moves today, including the purchase of catcher Cody Stanley who has been added to the team’s 40-man Major League roster. The team also announced that it has given outfielderShane Robinson his outright release and that right-handed pitcher Keith Butler has been outrighted to the triple-A Memphis roster.
Stanley, 25, batted .283 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI in 103 games played for Springfield (AA) this past season while also stealing 13 bases and throwing out 42 pct. (28 of 67) of attempted base stealers – earning Texas League All-Star selection. The left-handed hitting Stanley hit .292 with 12 RBI in 21 games played during the just-completed Arizona Fall League season.
Today’s roster moves puts the Cardinals 40-man Major League roster at 36.
Stanley should be the backup in STL soon. I think he offers much more than T. Cruz
