Matt Holliday Urges St. Louisans to “Share the Warmth” for DollarHelp Campaign

Laclede Gas Customers could win trip to meet Cards Slugger at Spring Training

ST. LOUIS (January 29, 2014) ― For many St. Louis-area families, the bitter cold weather brings the struggle to stay warm. Laclede Gas’ DollarHelp program has provided much-needed relief for local families for more than 30 years. It’s easy to help – customers simply check the red box on their gas bill to donate one dollar a month to a neighbor in need, or visit DollarHelp.org.

“We are experiencing a brutally cold winter in St. Louis.  The struggle to stay warm continues — especially for the elderly, disabled and families with young children. We are grateful for the generous support of St. Louisans, who dollar by dollar, are making a difference together,” said Steve Lindsey, president of Laclede Gas Company. “In fact, when customers sign up to donate one dollar a month, Laclede will match each monthly donation, up to $55,000.”

To kick off this year’s campaign, St. Louis Cardinals power-hitter Matt Holliday is asking his fans for support. “I’m a dad of four and my family is everything to me. DollarHelp is an easy way to help other families when they need it most. Many of the families who apply for DollarHelp funds have children under the age of five. I hope St. Louisans can check the red box today and make a difference,” said Holliday.

In conjunction with the campaign, Laclede Gas is hosting a “Share the Warmth” photo contest on the company’s Facebook page. Customers will have a chance to win the ultimate winter warm-up – a Cardinals Vacation to Spring Training in Jupiter, Florida, to meet Holliday in person.

To enter, Laclede Gas customers should submit a photo demonstrating how they “share the warmth,” for the chance to win the March 20-22 Grand Prize trip to Spring Training, or one of nine runner-up prizes including regular season tickets to a St. Louis Cardinals home game.  The contest runs until February 19, 2014.

As a service to the community, Laclede Gas, in partnership with United Way of Greater St. Louis, provides the administrative services to DollarHelp. This is done at no charge so every dollar donated passes directly to those in need, no matter what kind of heating fuel is used. Last year the DollarHelp program kept the heat on for more than 3,000 families in the greater St. Louis area.

For more information and Official Rules for the DollarHelp Share the Warmth contest, visit Laclede Gas on Facebook. To donate today, check the red box on your Laclede Gas bill or visit www.dollarhelp.org. All donations are tax-deductible.
