Happy Monday everyone! Needing a little baseball to get you one day closer to the weekend? Well, good, cause I’ll be here all season. Some accolades to mention tonight as Tim Cooney has been named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week. Kolten Wong got his first two Major League hits, stole two bases, and sparked the go-ahead rally in the 8th *removes monkey off of back.*
Memphis Redbirds (AAA): Won 7-4 over Omaha
Memphis had been in a six-game skid. Then Jamie Romak and Brock Peterson happened. The two combined for four hits, two doubles and six RBI. Nick Greenwood started but got pegged for four runs in four innings for the ND. Eric Fornataro earned the win and Salas got the save.
Springfield Cardinals (AA): Did not play
Peoria Chiefs (A): Lost 2-1 to Cedar Rapids.
Tilson had another hit, but Gerwuins Velazco led the way with two of the Chiefs five hits. Ben O’Shea took the loss, but only gave up 3 H and 1 ER in six innings.
State College Spikes (A): Won 2-1 over Batavia
If you’re a cat person, hopefully you could bring the little hairball to the “Purr in the Park” night. The catfight went 11 innings, and the Spikes finally hit the walk-off. Ronald Castillo had the only RBI for SC tonight and Victor De Leon gets the credit for the win. A Purr-fect ending you could say.
Johnson City Cardinals (A): Lost 5-4 to Bristol.
JC went into extra innings in tonight’s showdown with Bristol. The two squads even traded runs in the 11th to keep the free baseball going. Then the White Sox scored two in the top of the 12th and JC could only muster one in the bottom half. Nick Lomascolo gave up the two runs in the 12th and Jhohan Acevedo went 2-4 with a double.
Palm Beach Cardinals (A): Did not play
GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Won 7-2 over GCL Mets
DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Lost 7-2 to DSL Orioles
What a crazy game the big club had today. Hope your hearts could handle all the crazy twists and turns and double-switches. So goodnight my friends, and PREACH ON!
