Chris Carpenter is on the clock. His first appearance of 2013 becomes the story for Monday of the All-Star break, and it will be quite the attraction in Springfield. Anyone who was hoping to secure last-minute tickets should bring a blanket since nearly all seats are taken. All signs point to a great evening of baseball, as the forecast looks clear both for the weather and the Cardinals.
Kolten Wong was not the only St. Louis first round pick in New York to celebrate the festivities. This year’s top selection, Marco Gonzales, added one more award from his stellar Gonzaga career. The Futures Game was a success for Wong, who now waits for his shot, even as his Memphis teammate eyes the comeback trail. Oscar Taveras has been added to the GCL Cards roster and should return to the Redbirds following the break.
