C70 At The Bat

That’s Bull….Pen

I’ll admit, I was one of those that thought it’d be different. I thought Mike Maddux would make a difference.  I thought that the new bullpen arms would be extremely effective.  I thought we’d seen the end of consistently losing games in late innings, especially with questionable decisions. Instead, it’s like 2017 got dressed up [...]

If most of us could drawn it up (while still being realistic about it), Adam Wainwright would have come out last night and thrown six scoreless innings, leading the Cardinals to an win in the home opener.  We would have seen flashes of the old Waino mixed in with a crafty veteran.  We would have [...]

The Cardinals ended their road trip last night but in a fitting bookend to the beginning of the trip it was the news that came out before the game that wound up dominating the conversation for a while.  Adam Wainwright was activated off the disabled list in preparation for making the start tomorrow in the [...]

Fearful Symmetry

When the Star Wars publishing line was revived in the early ’90s, the first three books written by Timothy Zahn quickly became known as the Thrawn trilogy after the villian it introduced, Grand Admiral Thrawn.  Thrawn was an Imperial strategist and tactician who gained psychological insight from studying the art of a species.  Art was a [...]

That Was Miles Better

The joke went flying through Twitter yesterday afternoon. Great story, a two-way player coming over from Japan and exploding on the scene. Miles Mikolas, of course. — Joe Sheehan (@joe_sheehan) April 2, 2018 While Miles Mikolas really isn’t going to be Shohei Ohtani, he did a fair imitation on Monday afternoon.  Going into the top [...]

After three games last year, the Cardinals sat at 1-2 and were one game off the early NL Central pace.  After some significant changes this offseason, the new-look Cardinals….sit at 1-2 and are two games out, since Milwaukee started off with a sweep of the Padres.  Now, as we all know, you can’t draw many [...]

Watch that first step.  It’s a doozy. After months of anticipation, after an off-season of potential answers to the questions from last year, after the last couple of weeks of spring heightened our excitement and our readiness for baseball, yesterday happened.  Now I know how some people that saw The Last Jedi felt.  At least [...]

Holland to Cards

After an offseason of speculation and a lot of “we’re happy where we are”, the Cards apparently have a deal with Greg Holland per many reports.  It is pending a physical and no details on money, length of contract, or who would be removed from the 25 or 40 man to accommodate.
