When the Shoe Fits

Some teams are afraid of the ‘cold-weather’ states when it comes to the draft, but that never has been an issue for the Cardinals. It appears that St. Louis may have turned to an old stomping ground once again in Round 14 and stop me if you have heard this before — a 6’6″ RHP [...]

Signing Sooners

Oklahoma was again a target for the Cardinals, who snapped up Jacob Evans in the 6th Round and used their 13th Round pick on CF Craig Aikin. He is the fourth outfielder St. Louis has selected this year.

Getting Some Payback

Since the Springfield Cardinals share a field with Missouri State, the St. Louis farm system started off Day 3 of the Draft by taking away some competition from MSU. The Cardinals took two High School pitchers in the 11th and 12th round and both are committed to colleges in Arkansas. The all-important 11th round typically [...]

Preacher Primed for Picks

Get ready for a full day of new St. Louis names and much more as the Cardinals complete the 50th Anniversary of the Rule 4 Draft!

Eight was Enough

Two areas that the Cardinals usually hit pretty hard are both that have avoided attention until the 8th round. In taking Ian Oxnevad, the first high school LHP has gone to St. Louis with two picks left on the day.

Breaking the Tie

Through the first eight St. Louis picks, an even four pitchers and four position players were selected. The Cardinals stuck to the college ranks and took a catcher for the first time in Jesse Jesser, a Senior from San Diego.

Franklin is Smiling

And the lefties have finally been represented! Jacob Evans who has had closing experience for Oklahoma comes off the board to the Cardinals in Round 6, second straight pick from Ryan Franklin’s home state.

From the MIAA Ranks

St. Louis continues the run on right-handed pitchers, add a third in the draft with Ryan Helsley from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.

Fourth Round Fun

The puzzle pieces continue into the 4th round as St. Louis nabs another bat with Paul DeJong out of Illinois State. He has played all over the infield and has a chance to stick behind the plate. Welcome the Senior to the Cardinal family!

Route 66 Pick

Three for three go the Cards on Day 1 of the 2015 Draft. Bryce Denton is committed to Vanderbilt but St. Louis has never shied away from tough signs before. He reminds me of Carson Kelly and was announced as a 3B option!

One of the great things about following the minors as closely as I do is watching the draft picks move up the ranks. It seems like it has been awhile since St. Louis took a high upside guy early so let’s see what a little scan of previous selections says about the newest Cardinal, Nick [...]

Comp. Balance A

Cardinals step outside the box and add more young talent with Florida HS RHP Jake Woodford. He is committed to the Gators but getting selected at #39 by St. Louis will present a life-changing opportunity.
