Getting to Know Zach Jackson

The run of position players continues, as most of the publications noted that was the strength of this year’s draft. The big difference in Round 6 for the Cardinals was two-fold, with the first High School player taken as well as the reason for three relatively easy selections to start the day.

Zach Jackson is committed to the University of Florida, one of the best programs in the country. He is also a power hitting catcher from the left side, something that is seriously lacking in the system. Whether or not he can turn into a big league receiver, St. Louis desperately needs to acquire as many bats as possible that can hit the ball over the fence.

Expect at least one more ‘safe’ signing coming up soon in order to have the cushion needed to secure Jackson, a consensus Top-200 prospect by MLB, BA, and Minor League Ball.
