Cardinals Launch Third Annual Ultimate Fan Video Contest

Ultimate Fan Winner to Enjoy Opening Day from President’s Box

ST. LOUIS, Mo., February 6, 2017 – The St. Louis Cardinals have launched the Third Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest to encourage fans to create videos demonstrating their excitement for the 2017 season.  The fan who establishes him or herself as the ultimate Cardinals fan will win an Ultimate Opening Day VIP experience—four tickets in the President’s private box.

The Third Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest, which runs through March 24, is another in a series of #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has deployed to inspire fans to create and share videos that celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals.  Over one hundred fans have submitted videos as part of the Ultimate Fan promotion.  Robbie Sondag, a minister from Fort Wayne, Indiana, won the 2016 Ultimate Fan contest with a music video he composed, produced and set to a catchy, original song.  Sondag won the first annual contest in 2015 as well with a different original music video.  Given the number of highly creative videos submitted by Cardinals’ fans over the last two seasons as part of the team’s various #CardsFanFlix fan engagement promotions, Sondag will likely face quite a bit of competition if he decides to defend his title in 2017.

“Given how excited our fans are about the start of baseball, we are expecting to see a lot of imaginative videos for what has become one of our most successful annual fan engagement promotions,” said Ron Watermon, Cardinals Vice President of Communications.  “The creativity bar has been set high by the hundreds of fans who have participated in our various #CardsFanFlix challenges over the last two seasons.  We are all looking forward to seeing who will be crowned the Cardinals’ Ultimate Fan in 2017.”

Fans interested in participating in the Third Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest are asked to create a video up to two minutes in length that proves they are the ultimate Cardinals fan.  While fans must respect copyright laws and keep things in good taste, they are encouraged to be creative, show off their talent and convey their enthusiasm for the St. Louis Cardinals.  Fans can submit a video via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo or any other public platform, but in order to be eligible for the contest they must provide the Cardinals a link to the video and complete a short submission form on the contest web page at

The Third Annual Ultimate Fan Video Contest is one of several #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiatives the St. Louis Cardinals have undertaken to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the team.  Over the last three seasons, hundreds of fans have collectively participated in a number of #CardsFanFlix video engagement promotions including two High School Student Video Challenges, the Cardinals Treasure Hunt Fan Contest, the Molina

#Made4TheBest Fan Video Contest, the #PlayBallLikeACardinal video initiative, the Take Me Out to the Ballgame Music Video contest, the Ultimate Fan Broadcaster Contest, Greatest Postseason Moments Contest, the team’s 2015 season-long #LoveRed2 campaign celebrating Red Schoendienst’s incredible 70+ years in major league baseball and the team’s 2016 season-long #STLisLou campaign celebrating Lou Brock and the St. Louis community.
