ST. LOUIS, Mo., September 11, 2016 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to today’s game that they have activated All-Star shortstop Aledmys Diaz (right thumb fracture) from the 15-day disabled list.

Diaz, 26, had missed 36 games since suffering the injury on July 31 at Miami after having been hit by a pitch.

At the time of the injury, Diaz was batting .312 (110-for-353) with 25 doubles, 14 home runs and 57 RBI in 96 games, earning selection to the National League All-Star team as a rookie.
