Cards Activate Randal Grichuk from DL

1st BASEMAN/OUTFIELDER XAVIER SCRUGGS OPTIONED TO MEMPHIS (AAA)

ST. LOUIS, Mo., May 16, 2015 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to this afternoon’s game that they have activated outfielder Randal Grichuk (lower back strain) from the 15-day disabled list and optioned first baseman/outfielder Xavier Scruggs to Memphis (AAA).

Grichuk, who was on the Cardinals Opening Day roster, had been on the disabled list since April 17.  He appeared in three games for the Cardinals Extended Spring Training team in Jupiter, Fla. this past week, going 6-for-10 (.600), including a home run yesterday.

The right-handed hitting Grichuk was batting .200 (2-for-10) with a homer and two RBI in six games played for the Cardinals this season before being placed on the disabled list.

Grichuk wears uniform no. 15.
