OUTFIELDER SHANE ROBINSON PLACED ON 15-DAY D.L.
PITTSBURGH, Pa., August 26, 2014 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that outfielder Shane Robinson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a left shoulder subluxation suffered in last night’s win against the Pirates. The Cardinals have recalled rookie outfielder Randal Grichuk from Memphis (AAA) to take Robinson’s spot on the team’s 25-man active roster.
Grichuk, 23, appeared in 19 games for the Cardinals in two prior stints this season, batting .136 (6-for-44) with a homer and 3 RBI after debuting on April 28.
The right-handed hitting Grichuk was batting .259 with a team-high 25 home runs (6th in the Pacific Coast League) and 71 RBI in 108 games at Memphis. Grichuk is also leading the triple-A Redbirds with his .493 slugging pct. and he was batting .325 against left-handed pitching.
Grichuk wears uniform #15.
