MLB and Chevrolet will Have a Special In-Game Moment to Recognize Chevrolet’s Commitment to Baseball, Especially on the Youth Level

Hall of Famer and Cardinals Legend Ozzie Smith will throw the ceremonial first pitch of Game Five of the 2013 World Series as part of a pre-game ceremony that also includes American Idol’s Harry Connick, Jr. singing the National Anthem. Additionally, MLB and Chevrolet will have a special in-game moment to recognize Chevrolet’s commitment to the game of baseball, especially on the youth level. Game Five airs on Monday, October 28th at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.

NATIONAL ANTHEM & GOD BLESS AMERICA: Harry Connick, Jr. is performing the National Anthem. Connick is the newest judge on FOX’s American Idol, is a three-time Grammy Award winner, two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner, and a multiple-Tony Award nominee. He has sold 28 million albums and released two albums in 2013 titled “Every Man Should Know” and “Smokey Mary.”  Performing “God Bless America” in the middle of the 7th inning will be Angie Johnson, Tech Sergeant with the Missouri Air National Guard.

CHEVROLET IN-GAME MOMENT: MLB and Chevrolet, the official vehicle of Major League Baseball, will have a special in-game moment with fans at Busch Stadium to recognize Chevy’s commitment to supporting the game of baseball, especially on the youth level. The Chevrolet Youth Baseball (CYB) program has financially-aided local youth baseball teams and annually provides nearly three million kidswith the chance to play and learn through skills clinics, equipment donations, field renovations and academic scholarships. In addition, the Chevrolet Diamonds & Dreams program has awarded more than 40 youth field makeovers across the country. Chevrolet has also supported Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program through the 2013 Chevrolet Home Run Derby during All-Star Week.

Leading into the top of the 3rdOzzie Smith will recognize Chevrolet’s commitment to growing youth baseball in a video played on the scoreboard. He will prompt fans in attendance to hold up placards in front of them, which will unveil an image of the words “Silverado Strong,” Chevrolet’s theme for the launch of the all-new 2014 Silverado, with the Chevrolet and MLB silhouetted batter logos on either side. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2013 World Series will receive a youth baseball field makeover in a U.S. location of their choice and a 2014 Silverado High Country. BANK OF AMERICA SUPPORT: Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, will provide American flags for fans at each Busch Stadium entrance, and asks those in attendance to wave the flag during God Bless America (in the middle of the 7th inning) as an expression of thanks to our troops. Bank of America will donate $1 on behalf of each participating fan to Welcome Back Veterans (WelcomeBackVeterans.org) and the Wounded Warrior Project in an effort to reach a total donation of $1 million, which will go toward helping service members and veterans succeed here at home.  Bank of America’s “Express Your Thanks” initiative, which re-launched on Memorial Day 2013, aims to help support members of the military and veterans across the country by donating $1 for each expression of thanks. FIRST-BALL DELIVERY: Eric Davis, Jr., 16, will deliver the first-ball to the mound with Cardinals Legend and member of the 2006 World Series Champion Cardinals Jim Edmonds. Davis, who is a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis – Herbert Hoover Club, is a junior at Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School in St. Louis.
