#SpikeSpot: Spikes Take Game One in 11 Innings

Boy, this NY-Penn League Championship got off to a fun start, with only eight hits between the two teams and the good guys coming out on top, but not until the 11th inning.

State College (A): Won 2-1 over Tri-City (Game One of NYP LCS)

Mason Katz got the party stared for State College when he knocked a home run to tie the game in the top of the fifth inning. Katz would account for two-thirds of the offense with two hits on the night

After the game went into extra innings, in the top of the 11th, Luis Perez singled to lead off the inning. When Jimmy Bosco bunted to sacrifice Perez over, the ValleyCats threw the ball away and Perez scored to put the Spikes on top for good.

Arturo Reyes started for State College and threw six innings, with the only run coming in the bottom of the second when Tri-City’s Bret Booth scored. Kevin Herget then came in in the seventh and threw three shutout innings in relief, taking Tri-City to extras. Jacon Booden pitched the final two innings and earned the win to give State College the 1-0 advantage in the LCS.

So now the Spikes head back home to State College for Game Two with a chance to sweep the best-of-three series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. ET.

As always, PREACH ON, my friends!
