Ain’t no party like a Cardinals party cause a Cardinals party don’t stop (against the Braves)! Another fun win and your Cardinals are now tied for first place in the NL Central. So let’s keep the party going to the minors, shall we?
Memphis Redbirds (AAA): Lost 8-5 to Iowa
The game was close until a five-run sixth inning for the Cubs. Greg Garcia went 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and Chad Huffman went 2-4. Nick Greenwood took the loss but Deryk Hooker got roughed up for four runs in the big inning for Iowa.
Springfield Cardinals (AA): Won 4-1 over Tulsa
The cardinals got three runs in the first inning and that’s all they would need. Stephen Piscotty was the offensive hero with three hits, two RBI and a run scored. James Ramsey went 3-4 with one RBI as well. Starter Jonathon Cornelius shut down the Drillers, allowing only one run over seven innings.
Palm Beach Cardinals (A): Won 2-1 over Bradenton
Charlie Tilson started in his first game since being called up to Palm Beach and went 2-4. He would later score on back-to-back doubles in the eighth from David Popkins and Jacob Wilson to go ahead 2-1. Sam Gaviglio started and only gave up one unearned run, but Corey baker earned the win.
Peoria Chiefs (A): Lost 1-0 to Cedar Rapids
There were only seven hits in the entire game. The Chiefs had four, but went 0-4 with RISP. Kyle helisek pitched well, only giving up one run in seven innings, but lack of run support doomed the Chiefs.
State College Spikes (A): Won 7-2 over Auburn
This was all State College and all in the eighth inning. All of the Spikes’ seven runs came in one inning. Steven Ramos went 2-5 and Mason katz drove in two RBI. A scoreless gem of a game was thrown by starter Jimmy Reed, Victor De Leon (who got the win), and Jacob Booden.
Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie): Loss 5-4 to Burlington
Steve Bean went 3-4, but the Cardinals only got one hit with RISP. Luis Perdomo gave up the go-shead run in the sixth and suffered the loss.
GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Loss 3-2 to GCL Marlins
DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Won 4-2 over DSL Nationals
Hope you all have enjoyed your Saturday and as always, PREACH ON, my friends!
