Waino goes the distance and so do we here at the Prospect Preacher. Let’s have a look at tonight’s games shall we?
Memphis Redbirds (AAA): Lost 2-0 to Iowa
No sweep in store against the Cubs. The Redbirds were held to just four hits. Greg Garcia hit a triple and Audry Perez added a double. Eric Fornataro gave up Iowa’s two runs in four innings and took the loss.
Springfield Cardinals (AA): Lost 12-0 to NW Arkansas
This was a reasonably close game until the Naturals put up a seven-run 8th inning. Ruben Gotay and Cody Stanley got two hits each. Reliever Heath Wyatt was the only pitcher to not give up a run against NW Arkansas.
State College Spikes (A): Won 9-3 over Auburn
The Spikes tripled the Doubledays, and Steven Ramos was just a home run shy of the cycle. Matthew Young added a HR and three RBI as well. Nick Petree went seven strong innings and earned the win.
Peoria Chiefs (A): Lost 3-0 to Burlington
Both the Chiefs and Bees had seven hits, but the Chiefs went 0-7 with RISP. Trevor Martin was a lone bright spot, going 3-4 with a double. Mike Mayers gave up all three runs in his six innings and took the loss.
Palm Beach Cardinals (A): Won 2-1 over Bradenton
This one went to extras and Ronny Gil was the hero with three hits, including the walk-off winner in the 12th.
Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie): Won 9-4 over Burlington
JC crushed 13 hits and nine runs and Kenneth Peoples-Walls led the charge with three hits, one HR and two RBI. Alexander Reyes earned his sixth win of the year with five innings of work. Ryan Sherriff only gave up one run in seven innings, but it was Dean Kiekhefer that earned the win.
GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Won 6-2 over GCL Marlins
DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Won 5-2 over DSL Nationals
So Cincy loses and Pittsburgh is losing (for now), so maybe first place isn’t too far away. As always, PREACH ON, my friends.
