Start the Clock, Part 2

Guessing the Blue Jays got the memo on what happens if you wait to take your player, as Hoffman heads north of the border with the 9th overall selection. It was a smart move given they were then able to use the 11th pick on a top offensive player, a likely plan of attack for St. Louis. The hard part of that scenario, though, is that Toronto had only to wait for one team to make a move before pulling the trigger.

If the Cardinals find themselves in a similar position where another Colby Rasmus is on the board, then every sign points to not waiting until No. 34 on the right player. The question will be whether or not any of the bats fall far enough and/or what the bonus figure may do to the equation. Pitching has dominated the early portion of round one, but that only means the run on bats is yet to come.

Twenty picks in and only seven non-pitchers have had their name called. A run on playoff teams can change the entire dynamic so here we go!
