ST. LOUIS, MO (March 26, 2014) – For the first time in club history, the Cardinals will hold a Fantasy Camp at Busch Stadium from July 10-13thgiving fans the opportunity to play alongside former Redbirds like Rick Ankiel and Jason Isringhausen and interact with the likes of Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee and Bruce Sutter. The camp is an addition to the yearly Cardinals Fantasy Camp held at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida, dating back to 2001.

“Over the years, Cardinals Fantasy Camp has offered fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play and experience the baseball lifestyle among living Cardinal legends,” said Joe Pfeiffer, Cardinals Fantasy Camp Director. “The only way to make the ultimate fan-experience better was to bring the camp to Busch.”

Throughout the four-day camp, the 44 campers will live the life of a Major Leaguer, receiving instruction from some of the best in baseball and playing four games under the management of a former Cardinal. All four teams, managed by John Tudor, Todd Worrell, Dave LaPoint and Jim Edmonds, will be completely determined by a draft, with the former Cardinal/team manager selecting players. In previous Fantasy Camps, campers played against the alumni, but in a new twist, two former Cardinals will be drafted onto each roster and will play alongside the rest of the team. Former Cardinals playing alongside the campers include Randy Flores, Brian Jordan, Rick Ankiel, Jeff Suppan, Jason Isringhausen, Gary Bennett, Tom Pagnozzi and Kerry Robinson.

All campers will dress in authentic, personalized Cardinals uniforms, and use a customized locker in the visitors’ locker room at Busch Stadium during the round-robin tournament. At the end of the weekend, one team will be crowned Fantasy Camp Champions.

Additional perks include special autograph and photo sessions, party suite tickets to the July 10th Cardinals/Pirates game as the kickoff to camp, and two “Talkin’ Baseball” dinner events. The first dinner is a tribute to the 1982 Champs featuring a Q&A with Whitey Herzog, Bruce Sutter, Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee and Dave LaPoint. The following night, the Cardinals will host a Q&A celebrating the 2006 Champs – Jim Edmonds, Randy Flores, NLCS MVP Jeff Suppan, Jason Isringhausen and Gary Bennett.

Additional Cardinals alumni participants include Camp Commissioner Andy Benes, Rick Horton and Scott Terry with more to come.

For more information, or to register for camp, fans should visit cardinals.com/fantasycamp or email fantasycamp@cardinals.com. Campers must be 27 years of age or older.
