Our final four matchups of the day bring a mix of positions, eras, and time of service. Which only makes it a great capper to the first day of play! Remember, you can find out more about the tournament as well as see the full bracket in this post. Polls close at noon tomorrow.
A couple of homegrown products. Matt Morris is a Cardinal HOF nominee, while Todd Zeile spent a long time in the bigs but not a long time in St. Louis.
One of the few active Cardinals going today, Jason Motte brings the beard and some off-the-field activities to the mix. Brian Jordan was a two-sport star and pulled it off fairly well.
Jason Isringhausen might have made us “dizzy with Izzy” a lot, but it was great when he shut the door. Ken Reitz was Scott Rolen before Scott Rolen.
Some people think Red Schoendienst moved to the top of the list with the passing of Stan Musial and they have a strong point. Todd Worrell won Rookie of the Year on that great ’85 team.
Come back tomorrow for the second half of the bracket! And be sure to cast your votes on the matchups that were released earlier today:
