Down on the Farm: August 16, 2013

Once again, sorry for the late post. I got some tickets to tonight’s preseason Kansas City Chiefs game against the 49ers. But let’s get back to baseball, shall we?

Kolten Wong went 0-3 during his major league debut. I didn’t see it, but it looks like I didn’t miss much of a game.

Memphis Redbirds (AAA): Lost 5-2 to Omaha

Without Kolten Wong, the Redbirds got nine hits, but plated only two runs. Jermaine Curtis went 2-4 in his first game back and Ryan Jackson was back in the lineup and went 2-5. Boone Whiting suffered the loss.

Springfield Cardinals (AA): Lost 7-2 to Midland

A couple of defensive errors plagued the Cardinals and lack of hits with RISP didn’t help either. Zach Petrick took the loss for the Cardinals.

State College Spikes (A): Won 2-0 over Jamestown

State College struck Jamestown with two runs in the ninth to take the lead and shutout the Jammers. Brett Wiley drove in an RBI and David Washington had two hits. Willy Paulino started and threw five shutout innings.

Peoria Chiefs (A): Won 7-2 over Wisconsin

Peoria with back-to-back wins over Wisconsin. Charlie Tilson stayed hot with two hits and Brad Watson pitched six innings for the win.

Palm beach Cardinals (A): Won 3-2 over Charlotte

Ronny Gil was the hero plating the go-ahead run in the seventh for PB. Robert Stock got the win.

Johnson City Cardinals (A): Loss 3-2 to Elizabethon

Johnson City held with the Twins until the 14th inning when Stuart Turner hit the winner off of Ismael Brito.

GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Win 6-3 over GCL Marlins

DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Loss 10-3 to DSL Yankees

Thanks for staying up and as always, PREACH ON, my friends!
