$10,500 Worth of Furniture Donated to Area Organizations That Serve Veterans
ST. LOUIS, Mo., November 11, 2021– The St. Louis Cardinals have partnered with Weekends Only Furniture to provide local organizations that support veterans with new furniture for their facilities. Three local organizations, Missouri Veterans Endeavor, The Veterans Community Project St. Louis, and The Salvation Army Midland Division Transition in Place (TIP) program, will each receive $3,500 in furniture to furnish their facilities.

Missouri Veterans Endeavor is a community for homeless veterans and their families. The key to MOVE’s success begins with veterans living among their peers in a secure and sober environment with on-site counseling services available 24/7. The 21-unit apartment site houses up to 40 veterans or veteran families.
The Veterans Community Project St. Louis is located on a 3.5-acre property in the heart of the Jeff Vander Lou neighborhood. The campus will include a village of tiny houses for Veterans experiencing homelessness and a Veterans Outreach Center to provide walk-in support services for any Veteran in the St. Louis metro area. Each tiny house provides everything a Veteran needs to live with dignity and security; new furniture, appliances, housewares, bedding, personal items, and utilities – all free of charge. Construction of the project began this month and is expected to be completed by winter of 2022.
Transition in Place (TIP) is part of The Salvation Army’s range of veterans’ services and operates out of the Veterans Residence facility. The TIP program is designed to assist homeless Veterans by providing sub-leased apartments at scattered housing sites throughout the community. The Salvation Army fully furnishes the apartments and pays up to 100% of the rent and utilities until the veteran can sustain expenses on their own.
