Fredbird Named Finalist for Induction Into Mascot Hall of Fame

Fans Encouraged to Vote Daily for Cardinals Mascot’s Election Online Through Oct. 23

ST. LOUIS, Mo., October 18, 2021– Fredbird, the St. Louis Cardinals beloved mascot since 1979, has been announced as one of ten finalists for induction into the Mascot Hall of Fame.

Fans are encouraged to vote for Fredbird during the final voting stage through Saturday, October 23, at mascothalloffame.com/thevote.  The public may vote once per day with the same email address.  An official announcement of the 2022 Mascot Hall of Fame inductees will be made on November 5.

Fredbird has performed at more than 34,000 regular-season games and been to seven World Series.  He was a part of World Series Championships in 1982, 2006, and 2011.  In addition to entertaining fans at the ballpark and around the community, he co-hosts a 30-minute television show, Cardinals Kids, on Bally Sports Midwest.  Fredbird was inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Mascot Hall of Fame, located in Whiting, Indiana, is the hall of fame for North American sports mascots founded by David Raymond, the original Phillie Phanatic, in 2005.  The non-profit organization serves as an interactive children’s museum and has elected 24 professional and collegiate team mascots into its hall of fame since its founding.  Fans can visit mascothalloffame.com for more information.
