Sardonic. Cutting. Intelligent. That’s what you get with CardsCards. The man doesn’t suffer fools gladly and will be happy to quote-tweet them with a pithy comment putting them in their place. That goes for the club as well, as he’s not going to necessarily swallow the company line without reservation. What may have come out more this year was his love of the history of the Cardinals. As you can see from the tweet above, he started a project on Birds on the Black that dives into the backstory of the Redbirds. The man knows his stuff, whether it’s the Cardinals or an insult, and it’s worth watching to see which you’ll get.

I don’t think we can overemphasize how rare it is for a blog account to have this much acclaim. Usually blog accounts are more for the tweeting of links and the occasional interaction. We’ve seen some throughout our recap–VEB and Cardsblog come to mind–but what the BOTB team does with their joint account transcends the normal expectations. You’re going to have the links, sure, but they can use this account to draw attention to their charity work, their merchandise, but also the different voices take over the reins during games to give you a different experience each night. And you know they are going to have the best visual media as well, because of who runs this thing. All in all, it’s a testament to just how special that site is that their account is up here in the top five.

If you watch Cardinal baseball, you know Dan McLaughlin. He’s been the voice of summer for a long time now, coming to your house every day via FOX Sports Midwest. You’ll get plenty of FSMW promotion on his site, but Dan also brings some opinions on all things St. Louis. He’s still a heated opponent of the former football team’s owner and he is a huge backer of soccer coming to SL. He somehow is also able to tweet while calling games, which is remarkable. If that’s not enough, you can get daily doses of the pipes on his podcast, Scoops With Danny Mac. So much content from the man it’s hard to keep up with it all!

It’s not surprising that the most prominent media member covering the Cardinals winds up this high on the list. He’s been a fixture in the top five since we started this thing and I doubt that ever changes. Derrick has all the news on the Redbirds, of course, plus with his chats and his Twitter replies can make his opinions on things known as well. Also, he did that small thing called saving a man’s life during the last Chicago series, so that’s pretty impressive.

Absolutely no suspense with this one, as gifs has taken home this title three straight years. In a increasingly fractured world, with bickering about anything and everything, one thing we can all agree on is that gifs is the best. Look at that percentage of folks that gave him a perfect score. Almost nine out of every ten! The worst vote he got was a five? Incredible. However, there’s also no one on Twitter that deserves it more. Gifs has done an excellent job developing a community and involving so many different parts of Twitter in various things like PaD or #bombsaway. He’s also used that reach to raise money for various charities as well, which speaks to the heart of the man. I imagine, if we do this for 10 years more, gifs will win it each one of those ten and completely deserve every title.
