Cardinals to Host an Evening with Bob Gibson and Tim McCarver

Exclusive Speaker Series Event with Hall of Fame Battery Mates Set for May 18 at Busch

ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 20, 2017 – The St. Louis Cardinals will host an exclusive Speaker Series event with Hall of Famers Bob Gibson and Tim McCarver on Thursday, May 18, from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Busch Stadium.  As part of the event, Gibby and Tim will tell stories and share insights into their respective careers, 12 of which were spent together as teammates in St. Louis, during a 90-minute Q&A session with broadcaster Dan McLaughlin.

In addition to the program, fans that purchase a ticket will receive a baseball autographed by Gibson and McCarver, enjoy a cocktail party on the warning track, a photo opportunity with the 1967 World Series trophy and dinner and drinks in the UMB Champions Club.  VIP tickets are also available for the event and will feature an intimate cocktail reception with Gibson and McCarver, individual photos with the Hall of Famers and premium seating for the Q&A program.

One of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, Gibson is the Cardinals all-time leader in innings pitched (3885.1), wins (251), strikeouts (3117) complete games (255) and shutouts (56).  During his 17-year career with the club, Gibson won two N.L. Cy Young Awards (1968, 1970), the N.L. MVP (1968), nine Gold Glove Awards, two World Series MVP Awards (1964, 1967) and was named an All-Star nine times.  His 1.12 ERA in 1968 remains the lowest for a single-season in Major League history.  He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981.

Tim McCarver began his major league career in St. Louis and notched three World Series appearances (1964, 1967, 1968) and two All-Star Game selections (1966, 1967) during his 12 years with the Cardinals.  An all-around talent behind the plate, he finished second in N.L. MVP voting in 1967.  In Cardinals World Series play, McCarver ranks second in hits (23), third in RBI (11) and walks (10), first in triples (3), fifth in batting average (.311), and is the only catcher in franchise history to have caught two title-winning World Series Game 7’s.  He was elected to the broadcaster’s wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame as the winner of the Ford C. Frick Award in 2012.

Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event are $225, or $325 for VIP tickets, and can be purchased at cardinals.com/speakerseries.
