Everyone knows that St. Louis Cardinals fans are racists and bigots, so it wasn’t surprising to see such a fiery response on Friday when Jason Heyward announced that he was leaving The Best Fans in Baseball™ and Baseball Heaven™ to play for the rival Chicago Cubs.

Here’s a collection of some of the vitriol hailed at Heyward’s way on Twitter.

Man, get a grip, Cardinals fans.

Cole Claybourn…Explain to me how these comments are vitriolic? The comments I’m seeing above wish him the best and thank him for his time with the Cardinals. I think you’re the one that needs to get a grip and look up the word “vitriol” in the dictionary. Just sayin’

I believe someone is lost on the concept of sarcasm.

Yeah I owned it, but thanks for being there to point it out Harvs. 😉

This was very clearly a satire post, Susan. I’m sorry you didn’t pick up on that.

You know I almost added, unless you were being facetious. Damn usually I catch that. Oops! 🙂 Proceed

Wow, this writer knows how to get a Cards’ fan’s attention! Nice use of sarcasm … Heyward is, afterall, just another black guy playing a hispanic’s sport. LOL … how was that??? Good luck, Jason!
