Cardinals Launch #12inStL Fan Video Rally for 2015 Postseason

First 500 Fans Who Submit Videos to Receive Complimentary #12inStL Rally Bands – The Ultimate in 2015 Postseason Fan Apparel

ST. LOUIS, MO, October 6, 2015 – The St. Louis Cardinals have launched a unique #12inStL Fan Video Rally encouraging fans of all ages to rally behind the Cardinals during the 2015 Postseason by sharing videos demonstrating their spirit, enthusiasm and support for the team’s quest for a 12th World Series Championship.   The first five hundred fans who share a video with the team this postseason will be sent two complimentary official #12inStL Cardinals Rally Bands – the ultimate in 2015 Postseason fan apparel.

The first-of-its-kind video rally, which will run throughout the 2015 Cardinals Postseason, was developed to encourage all Cardinals fans to show the baseball world the passion of Cardinals Nation in a way that is only made possible by video.

“We know that Cardinals Nation is strong and loud in their support of the team,” said Ron Watermon, Vice-President of Communications.  “We are challenging our fans to demonstrate their enthusiasm and support for the Cardinals not only to help energize our team, but also other fans in the Cardinals’ large online community.”

Fans who participate in the #12inStL Fan Video Rally are asked to create a video no longer than two minutes in length that demonstrates postseason spirit, enthusiasm or support for the St. Louis Cardinals. Fans are encouraged to get creative and share their passion for the Cardinals with other fans.   The team suggests that fans may demonstrate how they celebrate the postseason, show off how they rally their friends, family or co-workers, share unique personal rituals or superstitions, or otherwise creatively convey their passion for the Cardinals.

The video rally is one of several #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has undertaken this season to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals. Hundreds of fans have collectively participated in the various #CardsFanFlix promotions throughout the 2015 season.  More than seventy fans submitted videos to the Ultimate Fan Video Contest in March, with Rev. Robbie Sondag of Fort Wayne Indiana being crowned the winner with this video. More than forty fans submitted music videos in the Take Me Out to The Ballgame Music Video Talent contest, and Germantown Elementary School was crowned champions with this video after more than 11,000 votes were cast in fan balloting.

Other #CardsFanFlix initiatives included the team’s 2015 All-Star Campaign Video the Vote promotion, the Ultimate Fan Broadcastercontest, the Greatest Postseason Moments Contest, as well as the team’s season-long celebration of Red Schoendienst, #LoveRed2, where fans are encouraged to share via social media (using the hashtag #LoveRed2) congratulatory video messages to the beloved Hall of Famer who is celebrating 70 seasons and counting in an MLB uniform.   Through the #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiative, the team hopes to tap into the increasing trend of user-generated video content made possible by advances with mobile technology and social media. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Vine, Instagram and Twitter have all seen dramatic increases in video content in recent years. YouTube estimates that approximately 300 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute.
