Cards Acquire OF Gary Brown On Waivers From Giants

CENTERFIELDER WILL BE ASSIGNED TO MEMPHIS (AAA)

 MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 3, 2015 – The St. Louis Cardinals today acquired right-handed hitting outfielder Gary Brown on a waiver claim from the San Francisco Giants and he will be assigned to their Triple-A Memphis roster.

Brown, 26, was a 1st round draft pick (24th player overall) by the Giants in 2010 out of Cal State Fullerton University and has compiled a career .277 batting average with 44 HR’s, 227 RBI and 141 stolen bases in 550 games played in the minors.

The 6-1, 190-pound Brown batted .271 with 10 HR’s, 53 RBI and 36 stolen bases for Fresno (AAA) last season.  Brown also appeared in seven games with San Francisco in 2014 (.429; 3-for-7) and he played in one of the Giants’ Division Series games against the Washington Nationals last October.

The Diamond Bar, Calif. native appeared in 22 games for the Giants during Spring Training.
