Ultimate Fan Video Contest and #CardsFanFlix Fan Engagement Initiative Announced

Ultimate Fan Winner to Enjoy Opening Day from President’s Box.  Season Long Initiative to Promote Fan Engagement with Video Planned

ST. LOUIS, March 2, 2015 – The St. Louis Cardinals launched the Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest today to encourage fans to create videos that show their excitement for the 2015 season.  The fan who proves they are the ultimate Cardinals fan by submitting a video will win the Ultimate Opening Day VIP experience – – four tickets in the President’s box.

The Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest, which runs from today through April 3rd, is the first in a series of #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has planned this season to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the Cardinals on various online, mobile and social platforms.

“Technology, mobile phones and video are transforming how we connect with one another,” said Ron Watermon, Vice President of Communications.  “We hope fans will have some fun with us, demonstrate their enthusiasm for the team and show off their creativity by making their own Cardinals-themed flicks.”

Fans who participate in the Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest are being asked to create a video up to two minutes in length that proves they are the Ultimate Cardinals Fan.  While fans must respect copyright laws and keep things in good taste, they are encouraged to be creative, show off their talent and convey their enthusiasm for the St. Louis Cardinals. Fans can submit a video via Vine, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or any other public platform, but in order to be eligible for the contest they must provide the Cardinals a link to the video and complete a short submission form on the contest web page (cardinals.com/ultimatefan).

Through the #CardsFanFlix fan engagement effort this season, the St. Louis Cardinals hope to tap into the increasing trend for user-generated video content made possible by advances with mobile technology and social media.  Social media platforms such as Facebook, Vine, Instagram and Twitter have all seen increased video content.  YouTube estimates that approximately 300 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute.

Fans can learn more about #CardsFanFlix at cardinals.com/fanflix  and can learn more about taking part in the Ultimate Fan Video Contest, as well as view video submissions from other fans, at cardinals.com/ultimatefan.  Fans can join the conversation with #CardsFanFlix.
