Cardinals Museum Launches #FansToThePast Fan Photo Promotion

Fans Urged To Share Photos on Social Media for Chance to Win a Night at the Cardinals Museum with Ozzie Smith

ST. LOUIS, December 29, 2014 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have launched #FansToThePast, a social media-based fan photo promotion that encourages fans to share their favorite photos with the team for a chance to win a private tour of the Cardinals Museum with Ozzie Smith.

“This is a fun way to celebrate the important role fans play in team history,” said Vicki Bryant, Vice-President of Event Services & Merchandising.   “Fan history is team history.  We hope our fans will share with us their favorite photos and memories celebrating great moments in team history or selfies enjoying our new Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum at Cardinals Nation in Ballpark Village.”

Fans are encouraged to post as many photos and memories as they want on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the designated hashtag #FansToThePast between now and April 5, 2015.  Fan photos may be used within a #FansToThePast video, an online photo gallery or displayed at the Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum at Cardinals Nation in Ballpark Village.  One lucky fan will be selected to take a private guided tour of the Cardinals Museum with Ozzie Smith and up to five guests on a mutually agreeable date in 2015.    Fans can learn more about the promotion atcardinals.com/fanstothepast

The #FansToThePast fan photo promotion builds upon the #BirdToTheFuture Instagram video series developed earlier this season to promote the team’s new museum and Cardinals Archive brand.  Developed as part of #NestFlix, the team’s experimental brand entertainment initiative, #BirdToTheFuture is an entertaining fictionalized journey through Cardinals history featuring an all-star cast from the team, including Ozzie Smith.

Available today for viewing on Cardinals.com and YouTube, #BirdToTheFuture includes a time travel plot-line showcasing actual historic items from the museum’s collection on display today.  Many of the time travel sequences are depicted with historic photography from the Cardinals Archives (creatively enhanced to appear to be selfies and mobile phone photos taken in the past by time traveling mascots).   Visitors to the Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum can retrace the history featured in #BirdToTheFuture with the help of special #BirdToTheFuture display case markers.   Fans can journey to the Cardinals past daily at the Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum from 10 AM to 6PM.  Learn more at cardinals.com/museum.

The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum at Cardinals Nation

Our Home.  Our History.  Our Heroes.

The new Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum within Cardinals Nation at Ballpark Village features the largest team-held collection in baseball. The collection is second only to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in terms of size with over 16,000 memorabilia items and hundreds of thousands of archival photographs (#CardsArchive). With over 8,000 square feet on the second floor of Cardinals Nation, the Museum (#CardsMuseum) celebrates the rich history of baseball in St. Louis and the legacy of one of baseball’s most storied franchises. Just outside the museum, the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame presented by Edward Jones displays the official plaques of the Cardinals players honored in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The exhibit offers a number of touch-screen interactive displays that allow fans to dig deeper into the honorees, learning more about their lives, careers, statistics, and videos from their biggest moments. The Hall of Fame is free and open to the public.
