Molina & Wacha Progressing In Injury Rehab

BOTH PLAYERS TO CONTINUE WORKOUTS IN SPRINGFIELD, MO. THIS WEEK

ST. LOUIS, Mo., August 25, 2014 – St. Louis Cardinals Senior Vice President/General Manager John Mozeliak announced this afternoon that Cardinals All-Star catcher Yadier Molina and pitcher Michael Wacha have shown continued improvement in their injury rehabilitation and that both players will report to the team’s Springfield, Mo. Double-A club this week with plans to continue their rehabilitation.

Molina will report to Springfield tomorrow (August 26) where he will go through a full workout with the Springfield club.  Wacha is scheduled to report and throw a “live” batting practice session to the Springfield team on Wednesday, August 27.

Wacha, 5-5, 2.79 ERA, has been sidelined since June 18 due to a right shoulder stress reaction.  Molina, who is batting .287 with 7 HR’s and 30 RBI, has been sidelined since July 10 after having suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb that required corrective surgery.
