Cardinals Sign Four To Begin International Signing Period

RHP Junior Fernandez has agreed to terms and will begin playing with the Cardinals DSL club on Saturday

                ST. LOUIS, MO (July 3, 2014– The St. Louis Cardinals have signed four players to begin the international signing period from the Dominican Republic including right-handed pitchers Junior Fernandez and Sebastian Nunez, shortstop Starlin Balbuena and second baseman Esequiel Delgado.

Fernandez, a 6-foot-1, 180 lb., prospect turned 17 in March, has agreed to terms and will be eligible to play immediately, starting for the Cardinals Dominican Summer League team on Saturday.

Balbuena and Delgado are each 16-years old, and Nunez who did not turn 17 until mid-May, have signed a contract for 2015 and are subject to approval by Major League Baseball’s Office of the Commissioner.
