Down on the Farm: Not-So-Jolly Roger Edition

A tough loss for the big club, but not too many roster moves to note today. Martinez was officially shipped to Springfield, but he won’t pitch for the Cardinals. Should be headed to Memphis and/or STL soon.

Memphis Redbirds (AAA): Won 4-0 over Oklahoma City

Adron Chambers got thing going for the Redbirds tonight, with two hits and two runs scored. Peterson knocked in a RBI, Romak added two RBI, and Garcia added two hits. Richard Castillo started and shut out the RedHawks for five innings, and the bullpen was stellar, with Tyler Lyons, Jose Alarmante, and Keith Butler keeping the clean sheet.

Springfield Cardinals (AA): Lost 4-1 to Arkansas

Adam Melker plated the lone RBI for Springfield. The Cardinals also committed three erros, leading to Zach Russell and Danny Miranda’s combined three unearned runs allowed. Russell took the loss.

Palm Beach Cardinals (A): Won 4-1 over Charlotte

Jacob Wilson and Jesus Montero had two hits each, with Wilson scoring two runs and Montero driving in two RBI. Jonathan Rodriguez got on base four times (2 BB, 2 H) in five ABs. Sam Gaviglio went eight innings, only allowing five hits and one run to earn the win. Ronnie Shaban secured the save.

Peoria Chiefs (A): Lost 4-2 to Clinton

Only six hits for Peoria tonight, with Jordan Walton hitting an RBI double and Trevor Martin going 2-4 with a RBI. Kyle Helisek pitched seven innings, giving up three runs to take the loss.

State College Spikes (A): Won 6-4 over Jamestown

Michael Schulze went 3-4 with a RBI and Steven Ramos added two hits, a double, and a run scored. Jimmy Reed started and gave up four runs in four innings, so it was Victor De Leon who started the bullpen’s clean sheet to earn the win.

Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie): Won 10-3 over Burlington

Jhohan Acevedo lef the Cardinals with three hits, three RBI, one home run, and two runs scored. Ronnierd Garcia added two hits and three RBI as well. Dailyn Martinez pitched five innings and earned the win, while the bullpen only gave up one hit in four innings of relief.

GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Did Not Play

Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend. I’ll be heading to the land of my ancestors (Wisconsin) and will even catch a game at Miller Park on Sunday. Should be a fried fish, cheese-filled weekend! As always, PREACH ON, my friends!
