Down on the Farm: August 17, 2013

Happy Saturday Cardinals fans! It was another busy day in the minor leagues as the big club continues to make moves bringing up Tyler Lyons and sending Sam freeman back to Memphis. Kolten Wong is still hitless at the major-league level, now 0-4 after a pinch hit appearance tonight. Here’s what happened around the Cardinals system tonight.

Memphis Redibirds (AAA): Lost 5-4 to Omaha

Jermaine Curtis got two more hits and Blazek took the loss.

Springfield Cardinals (AA): Lost 11-10 to Midland

The Cardinals scored five runs in the ninth to tie the game. Ruben Gotay went 4-5, but Bo Taylor hit the walkoff winner for the Rockhounds off of reliever Kevin Thomas.

Palm beach Cardinals (A): Lost 1-0 to Charlotte

Kyle Hald only gave up one run to the Stone Crabs, but it was enough as PB was shut out. Alex Mejia had two of the Cardinals six hits.

State College Spikes (A): Won 5-3 over Jamestown

SC starter Nick Petree pitched well and gave up only one run in six innings. Alex De Leon and Matthew Young went deep to spark the Spikes’ offense.

Peoria Chiefs (A): Lost 6-1 to Cedar Rapids

Semi-recently-aquired SS Juan Herrera went 2-4 and drove in the lone RBI. Mike Mayers gave up three runs and suffered the loss.

Johnson City Cardinals (A): Won 9-6 over Elizabethon

Johnson City cranked out 12 hits and nine runs to top the Twins. Richy Pedroza did it all, going 3-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and four runs scored. Alexander Reyes earned the win.

DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Lost 8-7 to DSL Yankees

GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Lost 3-2 to GCL Marlins

I’ll be back in St. Louis tomorrow and back to watching the games as intently as ever. Sorry for the lack of tweeting/interacting, but all will be back to normal tomorrow night. PREACH ON, my friends!
