Down on the Farm: August 15, 2013

Sorry if this post is a bit late, I just drove to Kansas City to visit my girlfriend and her adorable new puppy. But that doesn’t mean you won’t get your Minor League Recap, it just means it’ll be a bit shorter this weekend. Only the important stuff. By the way, thanks to those of you who listened to me on ESPN Hawaii talking Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras.

WONG IS GETTING CALLED UP FRIDAY! MY MAGIC IS ALREADY WORKING EVERYBODY.

Memphis (AAA): Lost 7-1 to Colorado

Greg Garcia had one of two hits for the Redbirds and scored the lone run. Scott McGregor took the loss. Blazek, recently back in Memphis pitched one scoreless inning.

Springfield (AA): Won 7-1 over Frisco

The Cardinals started slow but found their offense late. Twelve hits later and the rout was on. James Ramsey stayed hot, going 2-4, with a HR. Tim Cooney improved his record to 7-7 after only allowing one run in seven innings.

Peoria (A): Lost 5-4 to Wisconsin

Peoria went to extras against Wisconsin. Charlie Tilson was a beast, going 4-7 with a HR. And he threw out a runner tagging from third to keep the game going in extras. But the Timber Rattlers got the last laugh with a walk-off win in the 15th inning.

State College (A): Lost 7-2 to Mahoning Valley

Brett Wiley went 3-4 but the Spikes’ Jhonny Polanco gave up 4 runs to take the loss.

Palm Beach (A): Lost 5-4 to bradenton

PB starter Marco Gonzalez went five innings, and was let down by the bullpen. Jonathon Rodriguez led the offense  with two hits in three ABs and two runs scored. Dean Kiekhefer gave up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th and took the loss.

Johnson City (A): Lost 4-0 to Elizabethon

The Cardinals were held to only two hits and no runs. Blake McKnight took the loss.

GCL Cardinals (Rookie): Won 12-2

Seven seems to be a common theme tonight, so I’ll mention that the Cardinals scored seven in the seventh inning to top the GCL Mets.

DSL Cardinals (Rookie): Lost 4-2 to DSL Rojos

Edmundo Sosa went 3-4, and the rest of the team hit only four more for two runs. Rigobert Urena gave up three runs and took the loss.

PREACH ON, my friends, and hope you all have a great Friday tomorrow! Be glad the big club’s extra inning affair didn’t run till midnight this time haha.
